This skyscraper in the heart of the City of London has been fully refurbished with a contemporary design perfect for today’s discerning office workers. Its fresh new look puts the building fabric of concrete and steel in the spotlight, while at the same time softening it with an abundance of plants and natural materials - it’s a design which both complements and enhance the original building.
We worked closely with the architectural team to deliver the new main reception area which has been completely transformed. It now features a large reception desk, coffee bar, break-out space and quiet contemplation areas with a living wall stretching the length of the reception area providing the perfect backdrop. Keeping the design within just a few core materials including wood and blackened steel allows the greenery of the plants to stand out.
As part of the project, we manufactured and installed the unique dogbone shaped table, coffee bar and reception desk all using the same Terrazzo worktops from FORESSO. The stunning worktops are composed of 85% recycled materials including timber offcuts – here it’s a walnut and sycamore mix – making them a more sustainable option while the natural wood provides the perfect contrast to the concrete and steel of the building’s makeup.
The large central reception desk is completed with birch ply panelling underneath, perfectly framed by blackened steel uprights and a blackened steel plinth running around the base. This matches the birch ply cupboards we installed underneath the coffee bar in the reception area.
Working in collaboration with ANS Global we also delivered the green wall elements which form an integral part of the new reception area. As well as the large real living wall, we also created the bespoke blackened steel planters which appear to float in front of the window. Nestled within the living wall is the building signage which uses the same birch ply wood panelling and blackened steel used throughout the reception area and is illuminated to draw the eye.
In the new washroom areas on the same floor immediately behind the main reception area, we manufactured and installed the bespoke island with quartz worktops & vanity unit complete with large square suspended mirrors directly above.
