Working together with Washroom Washroom, we’ve recently completed a large-scale refurbishment project at a major office building complex in London, including the striking new reception area which sets the tone for the rest of the building.

Sherbourne House, which is based on Cannon Street in the heart of the City of London, has six floors of offices with additional retail space available on street level. The refurbishment of Sherbourne House, which was led by award-winning architects Barr Gazetas and completed to a high specification throughout, makes it more attractive as a workspace to the creative industries which are increasingly looking for a base within the City.

Arguably one of the most important aspects of the refurbishment was the need to create the right first impression with the reception area. Our team worked closely with the architects and client alike to design and manufacture a bespoke curved reception desk with inset LED lighting underneath to set it off.

The desk is faced in FENIX NTM laminate in black and finished with a stylish copper edge trim and plinth. As well as its unique super matt and soft touch finish, FENIX laminate also boasts a range of additional properties including being anti-fingerprint, easy to clean and resistant to scratches, making it the perfect choice for a busy office reception space.

To complete the reception area, we installed book matched walnut veneer feature wall panelling behind the reception desk, specified to match exactly to the veneer used in the new washroom areas. Our team also created two beautiful bespoke wall planter boxes with copper frames and walnut veneered compartments as well as bespoke banquet seating upholstered with Kvdrat fabric.

We joined forces with our partner company and washroom specialist, Washroom Washroom, to create new male, female and disabled washrooms on floor two of the building as well as staff shower and changing facilities in the basement. Utilising the same walnut wood veneers and copper accessories throughout, the washroom and shower area design neatly ties in with the reception area to create a sense of cohesion between different zones of the building.

The Washroom team manufactured the Concerto duct panels and vanity units using another innovative material, Dekton. The ultracompact surface is manufactured using advanced technology to blend the particles of the raw materials traditionally used to create high quality quartz worktops but with zero porosity and no micro-defects, making it as robust and durable as it is attractive. Dekton is available in a wide range of colours, the dark grey Laos colour from its Industrial Collection is veined to give the appearance of natural stone.

For the staff shower and changing rooms in the building’s sub-basement level, we collaborated with Washroom again to deliver several bespoke joinery elements including cantilevered solid walnut benches and hat shelves, walnut veneered towel drop units with painted surrounds, walnut veneer surrounds for the vanity units and bespoke glass shower screens. Washroom’s Forza lockers with bespoke spray-painted doors and digital locks were set with a walnut veneer surround by our team to complete the staff changing rooms, which are designed to feel more like a luxury leisure club than an office.
